01
Is StockSim connected to real money?
No. Deposits, withdrawals, and trades in StockSim are pretend. No bank or brokerage is connected, no payment is accepted, and every transaction is a local simulation.
02
How do I add or remove practice money?
Open Portfolio and choose Deposit or Withdraw. Enter an amount, review the resulting cash balance, and confirm. Withdrawals use available cash and never sell an investment for you. Both transaction types appear in activity and portfolio charts, while investment returns keep cash movement separate from market gains.
03
Why does a price have a date?
StockSim uses completed daily market observations rather than live or intraday quotes. It shows the observation date and saves the latest available history on the device. Longer chart ranges can still work when the market is closed. A one-day view may say that the market is closed when there is no completed session to compare.
An accepted practice order fills immediately at the displayed dated price, even when the market is closed. Real stock and ETF orders follow different hours and rules, and their final price can differ.
04
What can I practice with?
StockSim currently supports fractional practice trades in U.S.-listed common stocks and ETFs returned by connected search. Crypto, mutual funds, bonds, options, and other instruments are outside the current app.
05
Why does StockSim check splits and dividends?
A stock split changes the number of shares and price per share without creating the large gain or loss an unadjusted chart could suggest. A supported recurring cash dividend can add pretend cash when eligible shares were held. StockSim requests relevant events so share quantities, cost basis, cash activity, and portfolio history remain consistent. Each supported event is recorded once.
07
Where are portfolios and notes saved?
Practice balances, holdings, trades, notes, watch prices, lesson progress, and settings are stored on the device. There is no StockSim account or cloud sync. Removing the app or clearing its storage can remove those records.
08
What does reset remove?
A confirmed portfolio reset clears holdings, trade history, cash adjustments, deposits, withdrawals, and portfolio history, then returns practice cash to $0. Lesson completion, research notes, watch prices, and appearance settings remain. Canceling the confirmation changes nothing.
09
